On the the last second of 1999, a 'Storm' rose upward to the sky, washing away the neon lights, the champagne glasses, and the end of the millenia. The world reshaped itself, ticking its clocks backwards to the past, leaving the last fleeting traces of 1999 behind in search of a strange, old era.

You play as the Timekeeper, a 16 year old girl in service to the St Pavlov Foundation and the only living person immune to the effects of the 'Storm'. She owns an ever-growing suitcase, which contains all the companions she meets and will meet along the eras she crosses.

Reverse:1999 is a 18th century time travel visual novel with gacha mechanics. The gameplay itself is turn-based with cards. The game is strictly singleplayer. It is very story-heavy, containing 10 main story chapters at the time of editing this. [The story is the best part of the game and if you skip it you are missing out]

PERSONALLY

It's my favourite game ever!!!!!!!! I've basically played since release (though i quit for multiple months on different occasions) and I am so glad i had the privelige to experience this WORK OF ART. Each character has something memorable or quirky to them which makes the game stand out i would say... all of the illustrations are SO GOOD!!!!!! ITS SO GOOD!!!!!!!! I fell in love with the main story and I think everyone should experience chapters 5, 6 and 7 in succession.

MAIN CAST

Vertin (the 'Timekeeper') is the 16 year old protagonist and person you play as within the game. She leads Team Timekeeper in the St. Pavlov Foundation. She is British. Raised from extremely young in the SPDM, she has little knowledge of her past and where she came from. As the only person immune to the 'Storm', she naturally gets forced into Storm-related missions. Her face is notorious for being neutral and unexpressive. She is not good at fighting, so she chooses to command battles instead. I like her because she is not a self-insert gacha game MC and actually has a story and personality and self. Which is really atypical for some reason. I dont know they should make more.

Sonetto is the chief assistant and the best friend of Vertin (whom she has a crush on). An outstanding graduate of SPDM and a stickler to the rules, she has followed the St. Pavlov Foundation for many years. Sonetto casts her arcane abilities and attacks by writing lines of poetry. She is Italian and 16 years old. Her name "Sonetto" is the Italian translation of sonnet, a 14-line poem. Shes cool i dont know what else to say yo. Her loyalty is very admirable and she was one of my main supports early game.

Regulus is a 15 year old pirate whose favourite things is piracy and rock'n'roll. She runs Radio aPPLE, her own pirate radio. Regulus is a Brit from the 1966 era. Her arcane ability is casting light effects. She is the first character you meet in the game and the first person Vertin was able to save from the 'Storm' by shoving her into the suitcase. Bluepoch really likes her and gives her plot relevance and appearances and skins like there is no tommorow. I admit she was my first favourite character shes just so cool yo

APPLe is Captain Regulus's right hand man and fellow pirate. He enjoys wine and being smart i think. If he is on the same team as Regulus in a battle, he appears in her Ultimate. He casts arcane abilities with light. He is implied to be the same apple that fell on Isaac Newton's head (the one that caused him to discover the law of gravity). Therefore, he is also like 300 years old. For some reason i have multiple people who do not play reverse:1999 call him hot. Is he hot? Is he single? I dont know. Take it up with him if you want

Lilya is a 17 year old graduate and Lieutenant of Zeno Arms Academy (an arcanist military). Lilya is Russian. She is a proud ace pilot and vodka drunkard. Her name in global server is listed as "unknown" because global doesnt like underage drinking. But its 17 on cn. I dont have much to say about her except i keep losing 50/50s to her and her damage and playstyle is so buns uuuuugh anyway i gotta stretch this paragraph out so the thing below wraps normally
